Everyone is invited to a meeting on Thurs, 2/17, 7:30pm at the Watershed Building at the SE corner of the Hillsdale business district. You enter the meeting room through the doors off the plaza in the middle of the building (front doors will be locked).
Sarah Figliozzi (Portland’s bike parking guru) and Mark Lear (leads Portland’s bike boulevard work) will describe PBOT’s plan for providing bike parking at the Hillsdale Farmers Market and then take citizen input on their plan.
Eighteen months ago the Hillsdale Community Foundation gave me a grant to make Hillsdale more bicycle friendly. At that time I identified two high priority locations for improved bike parking: Baker & Spice and the Farmers’ Market. As most of you have seen, we’ve made great progress at the Baker & Spice location. Thanks to Richard Stein’s design skills and Ardy Braidwood’s support not only will we have bike parking, but we’ll actually end up with a community plaza within the next few months.
Now we are about to add the bike parking at the other high priority location, the Farmers Market. PBOT has agreed to include this bike parking as part of their work on the latest SW bike boulevard, which includes a stretch from Capital Highway to Vermont street running along side the Rieke School parking lot. They plan to have this bike parking finished and in place before the market opens for its summer run on May 1.
If possible, I will send out an electronic version of the plans in advance of the meeting so that people can comment electronically if they are unable to attend the meeting.
Thanks for your support. Dave J (email@example.com)
